Orange and Synamedia used the stage of IBC 2025 in Amsterdam to unveil a groundbreaking partnership aimed at transforming the future of content delivery across Africa and the Middle East.
The collaboration brings together Orange’s extensive content delivery network (CDN) and Synamedia’s Quortex Switch multi-CDN platform in what is being billed as a first-of-its-kind solution for global media providers.
The joint offering will allow content providers to integrate multiple CDNs seamlessly, enabling them to reach new markets with high-quality, low-latency streaming, particularly in Africa, where the streaming sector is on the cusp of explosive growth. Industry estimates project Africa’s streaming market will expand by 50% by 2030.
Cédric Hardouin, Vice President of CDN and Edge at Orange Wholesale, said the collaboration underlines Orange’s role in unlocking new opportunities for content providers. “This alliance showcases how any CDN customer can now easily benefit from Orange’s strengths in CDN, particularly across the Middle East and Africa. Our infrastructure stands out for its ability to extend reach while ensuring optimal quality of service, offering a powerful way to scale global content delivery,” he said.
Ed Allfrey, General Manager of Video Network at Synamedia, called the partnership a breakthrough for emerging markets. “This is our first collaboration with a telecom-grade CDN provider, and it breaks new ground by extending the reach of scalable CDNs to Africa. Orange has proven strengths in low latency, compliance, and privacy — and now, with seamless CDN switching, content providers can confidently expand into underserved markets,” he stated.
For African audiences, the deal promises a more reliable, flexible, and cost-effective streaming experience. With Quortex Switch’s intelligent routing and mid-stream switching, end-users will be dynamically connected to the best content source available, ensuring uninterrupted viewing even in fluctuating network environments.
By marrying European technology leadership with Africa’s fast-rising digital demand, the Orange-Synamedia partnership sets the stage for the continent to leapfrog into the next era of video distribution.Orange and Synamedia used the stage of IBC 2025 in Amsterdam to unveil a groundbreaking partnership aimed at transforming the future of content delivery across Africa and the Middle East.
